Peru shines at the 2023 World Travel Awards, taking home four accolades and solidifying its reputation as a tourism leader in South America. At the ceremony held on August 26 in Saint Lucia, Peru won the awards for “Best Culinary Destination,” “Best Cultural Destination,” and “Best Leading Destination in South America.” Additionally, the iconic sanctuary of Machu Picchu was recognized as the “Best Tourist Attraction in South America.”
“These awards are a tribute to our rich culture, gastronomy, and natural heritage. They strengthen Peru’s international promotion and contribute to the economic recovery of the sector,” said Angélica Matsuda, Executive President of PROMPERÚ.
With a track record of excellence since 2009, the country has received numerous recognitions, including ten titles as the “Best Culinary Destination in the World.” This success reaffirms Peru as a global tourism and culinary benchmark.
