Forest Fire in Machu Picchu Did Not Claim Victims or Affect Tourist Activity

Official Statement

Forest Fire in Machu Picchu Did Not Claim Victims or Affect Tourist Activity

Regarding the recent forest fires that have occurred in the buffer zone around Machu Picchu in the past few days, we would like to inform tourists and the general public that the Peruvian government, through relevant authorities, has taken immediate actions to control the situation.

It is important to note that the affected area is located far from the tourist corridor, has not endangered the archaeological site of Machu Picchu, and poses no threat to tourists or the local population.

PROMPERÚ provides the WhatsApp number (944-492-314) of IPERÚ, a member of the Tourist Protection Network, available 24 hours a day from Monday to Sunday. Travelers can contact this number to receive guidance on medical facilities in case of emergencies. The IPERÚ service, provided by the government free of charge, offers tourists official and up-to-date information about the country.
