When you hike the Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, you will see impressive Inca ruins, expansive mountain views, lush subtropical vegetation and extraordinary ecological varieties. The Ancient Inca Road goes through the National Park and takes you through the Sun Gate with unforgettable views of Machu Picchu! We will pass through cloud forests and finally into subtropical vegetation. People hiking the short Inca Trail Trek will have the privilege of seeing the famous Machu Picchu Citadel in the afternoon on the first day and also visiting it the next morning! Day 01: Chachabamba – Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes
Early in the morning, we will be transferred from the hotel to the station of Ollantaytambo, where we’ll take the train that will leave us 104 km later: Inca Trail begins on the bridge over the Urubamba River, followed by a gentle climb to the cloud forest, surounded by a wide variety of flora and fauna and archaeological remains of Inca buildings. About three hours later, we reach the archaeological site of Wiñaywayna. Here we get our lunch served. We continue our journey until we reach Intipunku, the Sun Gate in the evening. From here we will have an outstanding view of Machu Picchu. We will descend to Aguas Calientes to spend the night there.
Day 02: Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes – Cusco
After a good night sleep, we will take the bus uphill to the mountain which bears the same Name, Machu Picchu. The tour will be guided for 2:30 hours. We will visit the Main Square, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sundial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and the cemeteries.
In the afternoon, we will return to our hotel in Cusco. Machu Picchu was recently honored to become part of the New 7 Wonders of the World and is one of the top World Heritage cities on UNESCO’s prestigious list.
