Machu Picchu
We will head to the Wanchaq train station, where you will board a Bimodal service bound for Ollantaytambo. There, we will take the train that will take us into the mountains. Along the way, we will have the opportunity to appreciate some archaeological sites and lush vegetation. Our journey follows the course of the Vilcanota River to the Citadel of Machu Picchu. We will start with a guided tour of approximately two and a half hours in the Citadel of Machu Picchu, accompanied by a professional guide. Then, at the end of the afternoon, we will board the train for the return journey to our hotel in Cusco.
Machu Picchu, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983 and chosen as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World in 2007, Machu Picchu (literally meaning “Old Mountain” in Quechua) would have been one of the main, if not the main, religious sanctuaries of the Incas. It is considered one of the most brilliant works of architecture and engineering of all time, and its combination of mystery and mysticism has made it one of the most popular tourist sites in the Americas.
